Our Story, One Question at a Time

With a random Sangeeth dance pairing.

They met through a mutual friend at her brother's wedding, when two people who did not know each other were randomly paired for a Sangeeth performance. No plan. No setup. Just music, rehearsals, and the kind of coincidence that later starts looking a lot like fate.

No — not even close.

They did not know each other. They did not even know about each other's existence. Funny enough, they were supposed to meet at the same mutual friend's birthday party a year before this, but Kavya, being the introvert she is, did not make it to the party. Looking back, maybe the timing worked out for the best.

Radhe Radhe.

It was Radhe Radhe — and apparently, the choreography did more than entertain the guests. A few romantic moves, a little laughter, and one unexpectedly memorable dance partner later, something had shifted.

That Sangeeth night.

Some sparks are loud. Theirs was quieter — tucked between dance practice, laughter, glances, and the feeling that this person suddenly felt a little less like a stranger.

Akshay would probably say he did.

Akshay would probably say he noticed it first. Kavya may claim she was completely normal about it, but there was something there from both sides. He was just slightly less subtle.

Fun, beauty, and one very good dancer.

Kavya thought Akshay seemed like a fun guy — easy to laugh with and easy to be around. Akshay thought Kavya was beautiful, graceful, and an amazing dancer. Not a bad first impression when the first real memory is a Sangeeth performance.

Akshay missed his bus.

After the dance, Akshay had to leave for another city. But instead of catching his bus like a responsible person, he missed it just to spend a little more time with her. Some people call it bad planning. We call it the beginning of the story.

The spark did not end with the Sangeeth.

They started talking more, meeting more, and slowly going on dates. What began as a random dance became something they both kept choosing, little by little.

When life got real, and they still chose each other.

They travelled from India to the U.S. for their master's and stepped into a completely new chapter together. New country, new routines, real pressure, hard days, and big decisions — through all of it, they kept showing up for each other.

The quiet kind of support.

Not the grand, movie-scene kind every day — but the kind where you figure things out together, disagree and still come back to each other, and remind yourselves that no matter what happens outside, home still feels safe.

They have each other.

Amidst work, life, stress, chaos, and everything in between, there has always been one comforting thought: at the end of the day, they get to come back to each other. To talk it out. To fix the mess. To laugh about it later. And to cherish the good moments even more.

At Central Park.

At Central Park — with a yes everyone already knew was coming, but a surprise Kavya didn't see coming. The families had been informed, blessings were taken, and the answer was never really in doubt. But Akshay wanted to make the moment unforgettable for her. So with his cousin, Kavya's brother, sister-in-law, her nephew Audvik, and friends cheering loud enough to crack window glass, he made forever official in one of New York's most iconic places. A planned yes. A perfect surprise. And one very loud celebration.
